Hyde Park Green sits in a white stucco terrace of the kind Bayswater has by the street — columns, iron railings, a green front door with 53 painted either side of it. Then you walk in.
Every room is papered in a mural: jungles, temples, birds, glasshouse flowers — no two the same. Panelling in bottle green, brass lamps, mustard and rust cushions, a marble bathroom behind a black-framed door, and a cream rotary telephone that still works. Kensington Gardens is at the end of the road.
